Overview

SPIE is modernizing the electrical and control‑command installations of block 4 at the Staudinger gas-fired power plant in Großkrotzenburg. The program began in 2024 and is due for completion in 2028, delivering technical foundations for safe, reliable long-term operation. The Federal Network Agency classifies the plant as essential to grid stability and security of supply, and it will therefore remain in service until 2031.

Scope of works

Works cover replacement of low-voltage switchgear and the installation, connection and dismantling of electrical equipment and control systems. SPIE will completely replace all low- and medium-voltage cables, replace low-voltage busbars on the low-voltage side of the four existing low-voltage transformers with cables, and refurbish or replace the 10 kV connections of two service transformers. Where parts of the installation must stay live, new cable trays will be laid parallel to existing routes; cable pulling and substation control‑system services are included.
