Loan Agreement

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and ACCIONA have signed a €120 million loan to support research, development, and innovation, as well as advance digitalisation strategies. This is the first tranche of a total €150 million loan approved by the EIB.

Investment Focus

The financing will enable ACCIONA to develop innovative materials, processes, and technologies in infrastructure, renewable energy, and water treatment. The investment will focus on business process optimisation, automation, decarbonisation, and cross-cutting projects in digitisation, robotisation, the Internet of Things, data analysis, and applied AI.

Strategic Alignment

This agreement supports the EIB's strategic priorities for technological innovation and climate action, as outlined in the EIB Group 2024-2027 Strategic Roadmap. It also aligns with the TechEU initiative, which aims to mobilise €250 billion in investments by 2027 for startups, scale-ups, and innovative companies across Europe.

Ongoing Support

The new financing underscores the EIB's ongoing support for ACCIONA's research, development, and innovation activities, supplementing previous agreements, including a €110 million loan signed in 2022.
