SOCAR and BCG sign cooperation on Caspian methane reduction

Signing

On June 2, 2026, within Baku Energy Week, SOCAR and Boston Consulting Group signed a Cooperation Agreement to implement the "Accelerating Methane Emissions Reduction in the Caspian Region" initiative.

Background

The initiative was originally put forward on June 4, 2025 at the Baku Energy Forum in joint cooperation between SOCAR and BCG and aims to accelerate activities to minimize methane emissions by 2030.

Scope

The agreement foresees strengthened cooperation on reducing methane emissions in the Caspian region through joint research and investigations, implementation of joint projects, exchange of knowledge and application of effective practices, and promotion of emission reduction measures during oil and gas operations in the Caspian region.
