Siemens adds ECAD integration and standards‑compliant project generation to Eigen Engineering Agent
- Adds two capabilities: ECAD integration and standards‑compliant project generation to the Eigen Engineering Agent.
- ECAD integration reads XML and AML files, detects inconsistencies, configures devices in TIA Portal and generates PLC tags based on actual hardware topology.
- Standards‑compliant project generation turns plain‑language machine descriptions into Siemens Automation Framework–structured TIA Portal projects in minutes.
- Both capabilities are included in the standard subscription at no extra cost; the agent is used by 100+ companies in 19 countries with reported 2–5× faster execution, up to 50% engineering efficiency gains and 80% quality improvement.
Announcement
At VivaTech 2026 Siemens introduced two new capabilities for the Eigen Engineering Agent, extending the agent upstream in the automation lifecycle after its April 2026 launch at Hannover Messe.
Agent scope
The Eigen Engineering Agent is a purpose‑built AI for industrial automation that plans, executes and validates engineering tasks end‑to‑end. It integrates with TIA Portal and is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, enabling engineers to focus on system‑level decisions while the agent handles programming, configuration and validation.
ECAD integration
The agent now reads electrical design files in common formats including XML and AML, detects and resolves or flags inconsistencies, adds devices to TIA Portal projects, configures connections and generates PLC tags grounded in the actual hardware topology.
Standards‑compliant project generation
Engineers can describe a machine in plain language and the agent generates a complete TIA Portal project structured to the Siemens Automation Framework, ready to open and build on in minutes.
Impact and availability
Siemens cites deployment at more than 100 companies in 19 countries and measured gains of 2–5× faster execution, up to 50% engineering efficiency improvements and 80% better solution quality. Both new capabilities are included in the standard Eigen Engineering Agent subscription at no extra cost.
