- Five Honeywell UOP Polybed PSA units will supply >99.9% pure hydrogen to Shenghong Petrochemical's new Lianyuangang, Jiangsu complex.
- Polybed PSA recovers and purifies hydrogen from steam reformers and refinery off-gases for refining applications.
- The system can also produce hydrogen from ethylene off-gas, methanol off-gas and partial-oxidation synthesis gas.
- Honeywell UOP has installed over 1,100 Polybed PSA units in more than 70 countries.
Project overview
Shenghong Petrochemical will deploy five Honeywell UOP Polybed PSA units to supply high-purity hydrogen for a new refinery complex in Lianyuangang, Jiangsu Province, China.
Technology and performance
Polybed PSA units are skid-mounted, modular systems that include adsorbents, controls and process hardware; the PSA process removes impurities at high pressure to upgrade hydrogen to greater than 99.9% purity.
Feedstocks and applications
The systems recover and purify hydrogen from steam reformers and refinery off-gases and can also produce hydrogen from ethylene off-gas, methanol off-gas and partial-oxidation synthesis gas for refining and petrochemical uses.
Operational track record
Since its introduction in 1966, the Polybed PSA technology has been updated across generations and more than 1,100 units have been installed in over 70 countries.
