SCG Chemicals, Earthology & Jim Thompson unveil ReNylon x ReSilk hybrid fabric

Unveiling
At Techsauce Global Summit 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, SCG Chemicals, Earthology and Jim Thompson presented the world's first prototype hybrid upcycled fabric and participated in a panel on scalable ESG titled "Unlocking Scalable ESG: End-to-End Innovation from Local Roots to The World's 1st ReNylon x ReSilk." Presenters included Paisan Lorpongpaiboon (Head of Circular Economy, SCG Chemicals), Krittika Chaiwilai (Founder, Earthology) and Weethima S. Boontananitipat, Ph.D. (Textile Innovation Specialist, Jim Thompson).
Material and performance
The fabric combines recycled nylon recovered from discarded fishing nets collected by Thailand's coastal fishing communities with silk waste from textile manufacturing. The partners say the blend increases strength and durability, extends silk's usable life and preserves silk's natural luster. The material remains at prototype stage and is being prepared for development into commercial products.
Nets Up model and impact
Nets Up is a circular-economy value-creation model linking collection at source, industrial upcycling and brand-level product development, working with local fishing communities, industrial partners and consumer brands. To date Nets Up reports recovering more than 80 tonnes of used fishing nets and an estimated reduction of approximately 450 kgCO₂eq.
