Located in Mpumalanga, the Destoning Plant (converted from the Twistdraai Export Plant) reached beneficial operation in December 2025.
Feedstock and process
The facility removes high-density stone from run-of-mine coal sourced from the Thubelisha and Bosjesspruit mines, reducing ash and sinks prior to gasification to improve syngas quality for the synthetic fuels and chemicals value chain.
Operational impact
Since commissioning, average sinks to Secunda Operations fell below 14% in Q1 FY26, supporting improved coal availability to Secunda Operations and helping increase overall production for the quarter.
