Introduction of NORYL WM300G Resin
SABIC has launched NORYL WM300G resin, a new material for water management applications. This resin is designed to offer high impact resistance and strength without using traditional impact modifiers that release butadiene.
Regulatory Compliance and Performance
The new resin helps address potential future regulations on butadiene in drinking water. It provides a drop-in replacement for the existing NORYL 713S resin, offering improved properties and a seamless transition to advanced material technology.
Technical Specifications
NORYL WM300G resin is formulated without conventional impact modifiers, enhancing processing stability and avoiding butadiene release. It delivers 20 to 30 percent higher burst strength compared to its predecessor and surpasses it in fatigue performance, flexural, and tensile modulus.
Additional Features
The resin features low moisture absorption, good dimensional stability, and an attractive surface appearance. It is food contact compliant and free from bisphenol A (BPA) and intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It is currently awaiting global drinking water certifications.
Production and Support
NORYL WM300G is a non-reinforced, impact-modified blend of polyphenylene ether (PPE) and polystyrene (PS). It can be used in injection molding and extrusion for pipes and profiles. SABIC offers technical support through its Water Management Center of Excellence in the Netherlands, providing services like predictive engineering and mold flow analysis.
