RWE has initiated the construction of two significant onshore wind farms in Italy, namely the Serra Palino and Venusia projects. These developments are part of RWE's ongoing efforts to support Italy's energy transition.

Location and Capacity

The Serra Palino wind farm, with a capacity of 47 MW, is situated in the province of Foggia, Apulia region, and will feature eight 5.9 MW turbines. The Venusia wind farm, located in the province of Potenza, Basilicata region, will have a capacity of 45 MW with eight 5.6 MW turbines.

Timeline and Impact

Both projects were successful in the latest Italian renewables auction, with commissioning scheduled for the end of 2026. Once operational, these wind farms will generate enough green electricity to power over 83,000 Italian households.

RWE's Presence in Italy

RWE is a key player in the Italian renewables market, operating 17 onshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 598 MW. The company is also developing its first commercial-scale Agri-PV plants in the Campania region.
