- RWE awarded Contracts for Difference for 215 MW solar and 76 MW wind in UK Allocation Round 7.
- Strike prices are £65.23/MWh for solar and £72.24/MWh for wind, indexed for 20 years.
- RWE operates 730 MW of onshore wind and 185 MW of solar PV in the UK.
- Nine solar projects (440 MW) and four wind sites (230 MW) are under construction.
Contract Awards
RWE has secured Contracts for Difference (CfD) for five solar PV projects and three onshore wind projects in the UK Allocation Round 7. The solar projects, totaling 215 megawatts (MW), have a strike price of £65.23 per megawatt hour (MWh), while the wind projects, totaling 76 MW, have a strike price of £72.24/MWh. These prices are reported in 2024 values and will be inflation-indexed over the 20-year contract duration.
Renewable Capacity
The combined capacity of these successful projects is 290 MW, sufficient to power approximately 240,000 homes annually. This development underscores RWE's commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint in the UK.
Current Operations
RWE currently operates over 30 onshore wind farms in the UK, with a total capacity of 730 MW. Additionally, RWE has four operational solar PV sites with a combined capacity of 185 MW, following the commissioning of its first solar site, the Langford project in Devon, in June of the previous year.
Future Developments
RWE is actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio, with nine solar PV projects under construction, totaling around 440 MW, and four onshore wind sites under construction, totaling approximately 230 MW. These projects are part of RWE's ongoing efforts to enhance its renewable energy capabilities in the UK market.
