Investment and Expansion
ALPLA is investing eight million euros to expand its recycling plant in Radomsko, Poland. This investment will add a third extrusion line, increasing the plant's annual production capacity from 30,000 to 54,000 tonnes of food-grade PET recycling material (rPET). This expansion makes the Radomsko facility one of the largest recycling plants of its kind in Europe.
EU Recycling Goals
By 2025, the EU mandates that all PET beverage bottles should contain at least 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. The expansion of the Radomsko site is a strategic move to meet these EU requirements in regional markets. ALPLA is actively working with customers to create closed loops for PET packaging, ensuring that sufficient rPET is available to meet future needs.
Job Creation
The installation of the third extrusion line will create twelve additional jobs, expanding the team to more than 100 employees. This expansion underscores the plant's commitment to quality and operational performance, strengthening its market position.
Global Recycling Initiatives
ALPLA invests around 50 million euros annually in global recycling activities. Recent projects include reusable PET bottles, 100% rPET bottles, and new recycling plants in Thailand and Romania. In June 2023, ALPLA announced its first recycling plant in Africa, located in Ballito, South Africa. The total annual production capacity of all ALPLA's recycling companies and collaborations is approximately 266,000 tonnes for rPET and 74,000 tonnes for rHDPE.
