Commissioning Begins
Pyrum Innovations AG has initiated the commissioning of its thermolysis recycling plants 2 and 3 in Dillingen. The process began with the start of the compressed air supply unit, marking the first phase of a multi-step commissioning process. Over the next few weeks, other parts of the plant will be commissioned successively, leading up to the first test run of the reactors for production.
Installation and Capacity
In February 2023, two new thermolysis reactors were installed in the thermolysis tower, and the heating elements were recently finalized. Since June, the new shredder plant has been operating at full capacity, processing approximately 6 tonnes of end-of-life tyres per hour. The hot commissioning of the pyrolysis plant, with a gradual increase in production volumes, is scheduled to start in August/September 2023.
Production Goals
The company aims to make its first oil deliveries to BASF by the end of the third quarter of 2023. The final phase will involve the delivery and commissioning of a new mill and pelletizing unit in the first half of 2024. Once fully operational, the Dillingen site will process around 18,000 to 20,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres per year.
Output and Circular Economy
The processed materials will include thermolysis gas, oil, coke, and steel, which will be returned to the circular economy. These materials will be used to produce new products such as tyres, plastics, and energy, contributing to sustainable recycling efforts.
