- Plastic Ingenuity operates eight strategic locations and has expanded into Europe for thermoformed packaging
Partnership
PureCycle Technologies and Plastic Ingenuity have collaborated to incorporate PureCycle’s PureFive® recycled polypropylene into thermoformed coffee lids, with recycled content ranging from 25% to 100%.
Material and approvals
PureFive® is produced via a dissolution recycling process that removes color, odor, additives and other plastics from post-consumer polypropylene, resulting in a resin with properties comparable to virgin PP; it holds GreenCircle® certification for recycled content and has an FDA No Objection Letter for food-contact use.
Application and impact
Coffee lids are a high-volume, everyday foodservice application where using 25–100% recycled PP can reduce reliance on virgin plastics and support circular material use by enabling recycled content in food-contact packaging that has been difficult to certify historically.
