PETRONAS Carigali has signed its third Joint Development Agreement to advance TriCipta AI across the Upstream value chain, expanding the programme into Surface Equipment Optimisation with AI.
Partners and scope
The collaboration brings together IBM Malaysia's AI-powered information technology solutions and Tridiagonal.AI's engineering domain-driven AI to develop a comprehensive suite of upstream capabilities aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, optimising production and maintenance decisions, and maximising asset value.
Prior deployments
Following two JDAs signed in 2025, PETRONAS Carigali has deployed AI.SEEK and an AI-enabled Global Exploration Basin Screening & Analysis (GEB) tool that transform and unify complex geoscience data into automated geospatial AI intelligence to accelerate actionable insights and improve exploration chance of success.
Leadership and rationale
At the signing, CEO Hazli Sham Kassim said the company is embedding AI to drive bottom-line performance, asset reliability and speed-to-value while empowering the workforce to address operational challenges and make faster critical decisions. The ceremony included senior representatives from PETRONAS Carigali, TriCipta AI, IBM and T.AI.
