Project Completion
The Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund, through Rompetrol Energy, has completed the commissioning of the cogeneration plant on the Petromidia Năvodari platform. This marks a significant investment in energy infrastructure in Dobrogea.
Operational Details
As of December 30, 2025, Rompetrol Energy is the exclusive operator of the plant. The facility is integrated with the Petromidia refinery and the National Energy System, providing 60–70 MWh of energy and up to 180 tons/hour of process steam.
Testing and Certification
The plant underwent a 28-day endurance test in October and December, confirming its compliant operation. It has received all necessary certifications and authorizations, with a commercial license issued in December.
Technical Specifications
The plant features SGT-750 turbines, which operate on a mix of natural gas and refinery gas, each generating approximately 39 MWh of electricity. The turbines were synchronized with the national energy system in spring 2025.
