Agreement scope and commercial booking

Metso and the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) signed an agreement for engineering and delivery of process technology for GTK Mintec’s new pilot concentrator plant in Outokumpu. The order value was not disclosed and is booked in Metso’s Minerals segment orders received for the 2026 third quarter.

The pilot plant is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2028.

Pilot capabilities and equipment

The facility will support pilot‑scale testing and optimisation of conventional beneficiation and energy‑efficient solutions that reduce water and chemical use. Equipment and applications listed include High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR), ore sorting, primary grinding circuits, fine grinding technologies, coarse and fine flotation, and a wide range of crushing, classification and physical separation technologies for upgrading and recovery.

Water, tailings and digitalisation

The plant will enable side‑stream processing, dry stacking of tailings and closed‑loop process water circuits with advanced water treatment and filtration. An advanced digitalisation and automation environment will automatically collect process data across the plant to speed analysis, improve data quality and enhance reporting for customers.
