- It includes interchangeable extruder screws and a dual-sided corona treater for flexible applications.

New Cast Film Line Installation
LyondellBasell has installed a new Colines cast film line at its Cincinnati Technology Center. This addition enhances the company's ability to innovate and collaborate, particularly in developing and testing cast film grades.
Advanced Features
The state-of-the-art line includes a 7-layer, 5-extruder setup that closely replicates commercial film production on a smaller scale. It supports high-performance stretch film grades like Petrothene GA1820 and GA1832, using the same chill roll diameter as full-scale commercial lines.
Versatile Applications
Beyond stretch films, the line is designed for flexibility, featuring interchangeable extruder screws and advanced processing capabilities. It can produce complex structures such as ethylene vinyl alcohol oxygen barrier films using Plexar tie layers. A dual-sided corona treater allows for downstream lamination or printing.
Production Capabilities
The system can produce film thicknesses ranging from 4 mils (102 microns) to 10 microns (0.4 mils), with a maximum throughput of approximately 1300 lbs./hr. It is also equipped with a high-speed winder used in commercial production.
Enhanced Collaboration
This investment enables LyondellBasell to better collaborate with customers, offering tailored solutions and addressing unique needs. The line's versatility opens significant possibilities for structure design and testing in applications such as food packaging and healthcare films.
