John Cockerill will supply an integrated Cold Rolling Complex to A1 Iron & Steel in Tanzania, combining pickling, cold rolling and Galvalume coating in a single facility to produce higher‑value flat steel products for the domestic and regional market.
Key technologies
The installation includes a Pickling Line with an Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP) to recover hydrochloric acid, a 6‑High Cold Rolling Mill for precise thickness control and surface quality, and a Galvalume Coating Line for aluminium‑zinc corrosion‑resistant coatings.
Operational and technical benefits
Integration of ARP, cold rolling and coating will improve resource efficiency by regenerating HCl for reuse, enable production of cold‑rolled and Galvalume products with improved flatness and surface quality, and support a range of downstream applications such as roofing, construction and industrial uses.
Economic and regional impact
