Facility Upgrade

Integra Plastics AD, part of the Borealis group, is set to convert its production facility in Bulgaria to produce recycled polypropylene by October 2025. This upgrade involves the installation of Borealis' proprietary Borcycle™ M mechanical recycling technology.

Increased Capacity

The implementation of Borcycle™ M technology will not only enable the production of premium recycled polypropylene but also increase the facility's output capacity beyond the current 20,000 metric tons.

Transition in Production

Starting in October 2025, the facility will transition from producing recycled low-density polyethylene to manufacturing value-add and premium-quality grades of recycled polypropylene. This shift is aimed at meeting the growing demand for recycled polypropylene in various applications, including consumer packaging, mobility, and appliances.

Regulatory Alignment

The upgrade is a strategic move to help Borealis and its customers comply with future national and international regulations, such as the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation and the End-of-Life Vehicle directive. This transition underscores Borealis' commitment to sustainable and high-quality recycled solutions.
