Deal details

Hy24, through its Clean Hydrogen Infrastructure fund, signed an agreement with EDF Pulse Ventures to acquire Hynamics, a subsidiary of the EDF Group. The transaction could be completed in the first quarter of 2027, subject to the fulfilment of customary conditions precedent, including the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals.

Target business

Hynamics produces and markets low-carbon hydrogen for the heavy mobility and industrial sectors through several flagship projects in France and the United Kingdom. The transaction is intended to foster the creation of a leading French and British low-carbon hydrogen champion.

Rationale and statements

EDF Pulse Ventures framed the sale as aligned with its strategy to support portfolio companies and transition them to new shareholders with the resources and expertise required to scale. Julien Villeret, EDF Group Chief Innovation Officer, said the transfer represents an opportunity to accelerate Hynamics’ project portfolio and enable scaling with the support of a renowned French player and the world’s leading investment fund dedicated to the hydrogen economy and related molecules. Pierre-Etienne Franc, co-founder and CEO of Hy24, said the agreement illustrates ongoing consolidation around the most promising projects in support of European energy security.

Production method

Hynamics’ hydrogen is produced through water electrolysis, a technology that does not emit CO₂ when the electricity used is generated from low‑carbon sources.
