- Construction to complete this spring.
- Testing and commissioning in summer.
- Operational by October.
- Existing facilities meet current nitrogen demand.
Construction and Commissioning Timeline
Based on new information from main contractor Air Products, Gasunie expects the Zuidbroek nitrogen plant to be fully operational from October this year. After completion of the construction work this spring, the plant will be tested and commissioned step-by-step in the summer period for safe commissioning.
Contractor Changes
Last January, Air Products, as the main contractor responsible for the construction of the nitrogen facility in Zuidbroek, informed client Gasunie they ended the cooperation with its subcontractor Ballast Nedam Industriebouw.
Impact on Gas Production
The newly created situation will not affect the Groningen gas production in the 2022/2023 gas year. Due to the sharply lower market demand as a result of the high prices, the existing nitrogen facilities can sufficiently meet the demand for nitrogen.
