  • Skanska and DREIHAUS are among the first customers for evoZero.
  • evoZero deliveries to sustainable construction projects in Europe start today.

Introduction

Heidelberg Materials has launched evoZero, a near-zero carbon cement, across Europe. This product is based on carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology at their Brevik plant in Norway.

Carbon Capture Technology

The Brevik CCS facility captures 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, which accounts for 50% of the plant's emissions. The captured CO₂ is transported for safe and permanent storage under the North Sea.

Verification and Transparency

evoZero's carbon reductions are digitally traceable and come with full third-party assurance from DNV Business Assurance Germany GmbH. This ensures transparency in tracking and verifying the volumes of permanently stored CO₂.

Initial Projects

Among the first customers for evoZero are Skanska and the German DREIHAUS project. Skanska is using evoZero for the construction of the new Skøyen Station in Oslo, Norway, which will enhance public transport capacity. DREIHAUS is developing three 3D-printed houses in Heidelberg, showcasing sustainable building materials and reduced material consumption.
