Capacity Expansion

Evonik's Coating Additives business line is set to increase the production capacities of two key additive product groups for architectural paints: TEGO® Phobe hydrophobing agents and TEGO® Viscoplus polyurethane thickeners. These new capacities will be available starting in October.

Meeting Increased Demand

Nadia Lenhardt, head of the Decorative Coatings market segment in EMEA, stated that the capacity increase is a direct response to the rising demand for additives in architectural paints. The additional capacity in Europe aims to enhance both European and global supply security.

Hydrophobing Agents

Hydrophobing agents are essential for providing facade paints with a water-repellent finish. Products like TEGO® Phobe 1659, based on silicone resins, are known for their efficient reduction in water absorption. Additionally, polysiloxanes such as TEGO® Phobe 1409 offer a strong water-beading effect.

Polyurethane Thickeners

The TEGO® Viscoplus product range includes polyurethane thickeners that meet various customer requirements. These thickeners are liquid, contain no organic solvents, and are highly compatible with each other, allowing for easy combination of different products.
