EnviTec installs EnviThan upgrader and expands Timphaus biogas plant in Lohne
- EnviTec is installing a 561 Nm³/h EnviThan gas upgrading plant; construction began in January.

Background
Timphaus, an arable and pig farming operation, added biogas to its portfolio in 2011 to secure revenues under the EEG scheme; the family now moves to expand that renewable-energy business after 15 years under the regime.
EnviThan installation
EnviTec started construction in January on a 561 Nm³/h EnviThan gas upgrading plant. All modules are being prefabricated and tested in EnviTec’s Saerbeck production hall and will be transported to Lohne after successful Factory Acceptance Tests. The operator expects the first biomethane feed-in in October this year.
Plant expansion and operations
The gas-upgrading approval accompanied a wider permit to expand the biogas plant, allowing increased use of input materials—manure and slurry—and higher biogas production. Upgraded biomethane will be fed into the gas grid, while electricity generation can be scheduled flexibly to capture market opportunities.
Recent capacity additions
The original EnviTec-built biogas plant (549 kW electrical) was augmented in 2020 with a 1,500 kW electrical Flex CHP to enable flexible electricity generation and additional revenue streams.
