Enagás first Spanish company certified by AENOR under UNE-EN IEC 62443-2-1

Certification

Enagás is the first Spanish company to obtain AENOR certification in accordance with the UNE-EN IEC 62443-2-1:2024 standard, a widely recognised framework for industrial cybersecurity applied to essential infrastructure such as energy, transport and water systems. The certification recognises the industrial cybersecurity management programme implemented to protect operation of the Yela Underground Storage Facility in Guadalajara.

Scope of the certified programme

The certified programme covers two areas related to the operation of the Yela facility. The first is the Operational Support and Cybersecurity system, which provides services for protecting and operating Yela’s infrastructure, including access management, information protection and monitoring of technological systems. The second area is the Yela Underground Storage Facility Industrial Control System, which enables supervision, monitoring and control of the processes required for gas injection and extraction.

Operational impact and continuous improvement

The certificate strengthens Enagás’ ability to identify, manage and mitigate cybersecurity risks affecting its facilities, helping to ensure safe, reliable and continuous operations. It recognises a cybersecurity management system based on continuous risk assessment and the ongoing improvement of security measures in line with international best practice.
