Clariant launches CATOFIN 1000 PDH catalyst

Key highlights
  • CATOFIN 1000 is a new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) catalyst for propylene production
  • Offers up to 20% reduction in tar precursors versus the CATOFIN 310 Series, lowering fouling
  • Clariant's CATOFIN process combines tailor-made catalysts and Heat Generating Material (HGM) with Lummus's PDH process
  • Since 2017 CATOFIN has been selected for over 40 projects, including a 1,200 KTA PDH award in China

Product overview

CATOFIN 1000 is a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) catalyst that improves selectivity and productivity versus the CATOFIN 310 Series, offers extended lifetime and yields up to 20% fewer tar precursors to reduce fouling.

Operational impact

The reduction in tar precursors lowers fouling-related maintenance and downtime, enabling longer continuous runs and supporting improved plant economics and reliability.

Digital monitoring

Clariant's CLARITY portal provides 24/7 access to real-time catalyst performance data, visualization, analysis and monitoring tools to support catalyst-related plant optimization.

Technology and deployment

CATOFIN combines Clariant's tailor-made catalysts and Heat Generating Material (HGM) with Lummus's PDH process; since 2017 the technology has been selected for more than 40 projects worldwide, including a 1,200 KTA PDH award in China.
