Partnership Overview

Avantium and Packamama have signed a capacity reservation agreement to secure volumes of Avantium's plant-based polymer, PEF, branded as releaf®. This collaboration aims to enhance sustainable wine packaging.

Environmental Impact

Packamama's bottles, currently made from 100% recycled PET, are lightweight, shatterproof, and fully recyclable, significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional glass bottles. The introduction of releaf® further lowers the carbon footprint and offers superior barrier properties for wine quality.

Government Support

Packamama has received an AU$1 million grant from the Australian government under the Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) to support efforts in decarbonizing Australian wine packaging. Avantium supported this grant application, highlighting the global interest in sustainable solutions.
