- The alliance will establish a European consortium to build the first industrial-scale PEF facility.
- Avantium's YXY\u00ae Technology will convert plant-based feedstock into FDCA and FDCA-based polymers.
- The initiative supports LVMH's LIFE 360 program to eliminate fossil-based plastics from packaging.
- The project builds on the EU-supported PEFerence consortium's efforts to shift to plant-based polyesters.

Strategic Alliance
Avantium, Tereos, and LVMH GAÏA have formed a strategic collaboration to scale the production of polyethylene furanoate (PEF) across Europe. This partnership aims to accelerate the industrial-scale production of Avantium's 100% renewable and circular polymer, known as releaf®.
Consortium Formation
The parties plan to establish a European consortium to build and operate the first industrial-scale facility using Avantium’s proprietary YXY® Technology. This technology converts plant-based feedstock into furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and FDCA-based polymers, such as releaf®.
Technological and Environmental Goals
This initiative aligns with Tereos’ ambition to develop green chemistry value chains and Avantium’s goal to globally license its YXY® Technology. It also supports LVMH’s LIFE 360 environmental program, which aims to eliminate fossil-based plastics from packaging.
Existing Collaborations
The project builds on the existing collaboration between Avantium, Tereos, and LVMH GAÏA within the EU-supported PEFerence consortium, which focuses on transitioning from fossil-based to plant-based polyesters.
