Implementation of Reveos System
The Community Blood Center (CBC) in Appleton, Wisconsin, has become the fifth U.S. blood center to implement the Reveos™ Automated Blood Processing System and Lumia™ Software Platform from Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies. This move aims to modernize operations and enhance service delivery to hospitals and patients across Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Efficiency in Blood Processing
Reveos is the only whole blood automation device in the U.S. that processes whole blood into its components—plasma, platelets, and red blood cells—in a single centrifugation cycle. This innovation significantly reduces the previous 26-step manual process, cutting manual processing time by more than 60%. This efficiency allows CBC staff to focus on critical needs, such as creating special blood products and fulfilling emergency orders.
Support for Hospitals and Blood Drives
CBC supports over 40 hospitals and hosts more than 100 blood drives each month. The implementation of the Reveos system is part of CBC's mission to maximize the impact of every donation, ensuring that each donation meets patient needs and that every patient receives the necessary transfusion.
