PTA Plant Expansion

Indorama is expanding its PTA factory in Rotterdam's Europoort. The new RTO unit (Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser) will increase the factory's capacity from 350 to 600 kilotonnes per year. The expansion is expected to be completed after the summer, although contractor Bilfinger reported that the new RTO unit will be operational earlier.

Advanced Exhaust-Gas Processing

The RTO unit incorporates the latest exhaust-gas processing technology, significantly reducing the concentration of pollutants released into the air. During the construction of the new unit last autumn, Indorama also conducted a maintenance shutdown.

PET Recycling Technology

In November, Indorama announced its exploration into PET recycling. In collaboration with the high-tech chemical company Ioniqa, a new biochemical recycling technology was developed. This process dissolves PET from waste products and breaks it down into a colorless base molecule.

Historical PET Production Increase

At the end of 2012, Indorama operationalized a completely dismantled and rebuilt PET production line in the Europoort, originally from Offenbach, Germany. This upgrade nearly doubled the site's PET production capacity from 200,000 tonnes to 390,000 tonnes per year. Indorama acquired the Europoort site from Eastman in 2008.
