New Rail Link Introduction
Starting January, Contargo will introduce a new rail link between Rotterdam and Frankfurt am Main. The Rhine-Main-Rotterdam shuttle will operate on a fixed timetable with two round trips per week, providing a reliable and eco-friendly transport option for time-critical shipments in the Rhine-Main region.
Operational Details
The first freight train will depart on January 11 from Rotterdam, servicing terminals ECT, APMT1, Euromax, and RSC. There is also an option to connect to APMT2 and RWG, extending further to deep- and shortsea terminals. The train will run twice a week, with departures from Rotterdam on Mondays and Thursdays, and from Frankfurt on Tuesdays and Fridays. If necessary, the frequency can be increased to three departures per week.
Strategic Expansion
This new connection is part of Contargo's strategic expansion of rail transport in the Rhine-Main area. It complements the existing rail link between Hamburg and Frankfurt, which has been operational for over five years. The new shuttle aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of freight transport in the region.
