New Rail Service Introduction
Infraserv Logistics GmbH has introduced a new cargo rail link between the Rhine-Main Region and Rotterdam, unveiled at the transport logistic fair in Munich. The service, operated by Contargo GmbH, runs three times a week between Industriepark Höchst and Rotterdam.
Efficiency and Speed
This new service allows freight forwarders to transport goods from Frankfurt to Rotterdam in just ten hours, significantly faster than road transport. The trains, carrying an average of eleven container freight cars, arrive from Rotterdam on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and are loaded and unloaded at Industriepark Höchst between 7 am and 5 pm.
Capacity and Flexibility
Contargo GmbH can handle up to 1,400 tons of cargo per train, including dangerous goods. The service is not affected by driving periods, rest periods, or traffic, making it a reliable option for freight forwarders. If demand increases, the frequency of the service may be raised from three to four times a week.
Operational Details
The trains use an existing rail service between the North Sea port city and Germersheim, with a slightly modified route to accommodate the new service. Containers are transported to the Rotterdam seaport and river port overnight, ensuring timely delivery.
