Vitol Upstream Tano Ltd is a Ghanaian company engaged in upstream oil and gas exploration and production activities, primarily in the offshore Tano Basin. It serves as the local entity through which Vitol participates in Ghana's petroleum sector as a 35.6% shareholder in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) joint venture.
The OCTP project, operated by Eni Ghana with a 44.4% interest alongside the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) at 20%, has been producing oil and gas since 2018. It supplies a significant share of Ghana's domestic natural gas needs for power generation, supporting energy security and economic development.
In September 2026, Vitol Upstream Tano Ltd partnered with Eni Ghana to sign Memoranda of Understanding with the Government of Ghana for two new offshore blocks, GH WB 3 and GH WB 8, covering approximately 2,100 square kilometers in water depths ranging from 750 to 2,800 meters. These agreements aim to advance exploration under Eni's infrastructure-led strategy.
As part of the Vitol Group, one of the world's largest independent energy trading companies, the entity contributes to local content development, community investment programs in education, health, sanitation, and skills training in Ghana's Western Region.
