Ultragaz

Ultragaz is a major Brazilian energy company primarily engaged in the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for residential, commercial, and industrial use. Founded in 1937 by Austrian entrepreneur Ernesto Igel as Empresa Brasileira de Gás a Domicílio, it was the first company to introduce bottled LPG in Brazil, replacing traditional wood stoves and modernizing household energy consumption nationwide.

Headquartered in São Paulo, the company operates across Brazil with a network of thousands of resellers. It holds a leading position in the LPG market, with approximately 23% share according to industry data, serving more than 11 million households in the bottled segment and around 57,000 business customers in bulk. Ultragaz is a subsidiary of Ultrapar Participações S.A. (Grupo Ultra), a diversified conglomerate also active in fuels via Ipiranga and logistics via Ultracargo.

Beyond traditional LPG, Ultragaz has expanded into renewable energy solutions, including biomethane produced from organic waste at landfills such as Minas do Leão in Rio Grande do Sul, compressed natural gas (CNG), and renewable electricity. This positions it as an integrated energy platform supporting industrial decarbonization. For example, it supplies biomethane to Braskem's petrochemical plant in Triunfo, RS, as part of broader sustainability initiatives. The company continues to innovate in logistics and customer solutions while maintaining its core strength in LPG distribution.
