TotalEnergies EP Sarawak Inc is a Malaysian private limited company incorporated in 2004 and engaged in the exploration, development, and production of crude oil and natural gas. Its core operations center on offshore blocks in Sarawak, East Malaysia, where it manages producing gas assets and exploration acreage.
The company operates as a key subsidiary within the upstream segment of TotalEnergies, the French multinational energy group. Following TotalEnergies' full acquisition of SapuraOMV Upstream in December 2024, it assumed operated interests in blocks SK408 (West) and SK310 (B15) offshore Sarawak. These assets have positioned TotalEnergies as the third-largest gas operator in Malaysia, with production supporting supply to the Bintulu LNG complex.
Additional activities include interests in blocks such as SB412, SB 2K, SB N, and 2E (Marjoram), plus new blocks SK301b and SK313 acquired from Petronas in 2025 containing significant gas discoveries. The company participates in portfolio management, including targeted divestments, while advancing exploration, appraisal, and development programs aligned with regional energy needs.
Under Managing Director Jerome Saniez, who also serves as TotalEnergies Country Chair for Malaysia, the entity contributes to group initiatives in Southeast Asia. This encompasses collaborations with PETRONAS on methane emissions technology and potential CO2 storage projects, reflecting a broader focus on natural gas alongside low-carbon solutions.
As part of TotalEnergies' strategy to anchor its presence in Malaysia, TotalEnergies EP Sarawak Inc leverages Sarawak's hydrocarbon resources to support LNG exports and domestic energy security within the competitive Asian upstream sector.
