Syclus

About Syclus

Syclus is a Dutch start-up focused on producing renewable ethylene by dehydrating sustainably sourced ethanol. Based at the Chemelot Industrial Park in Geleen, the company aims to supply drop-in, polymer-grade ethylene to the regional petrochemical network and downstream plastics value chain.

Syclus is developing a commercial-scale unit using licensed dehydration technology and leveraging existing site and pipeline infrastructure, with plans for integration into the ARG ethylene network. The project targets around 100,000 tonnes per year of ethylene and is positioned to help reduce reliance on fossil feedstocks and associated emissions in ethylene derivatives. CropEnergies holds a 50% stake in Syclus, and the company collaborates with technology and feedstock partners to advance engineering, sourcing, and market offtake.
