About Syclus

Syclus BV is a Netherlands-based start-up developing renewable ethylene production. The company plans to convert sustainably sourced ethanol into polymer-grade ethylene at the Chemelot Industrial Park in Geleen, leveraging existing site utilities and connections to the regional ARG pipeline network to supply downstream chemical and plastics producers.

The project targets an industrial scale of around 100,000 tonnes per year and is designed around ethanol-to-ethylene dehydration technology supplied by Axens (Atol), with an emphasis on energy efficiency and low emissions. CropEnergies, a European renewable ethanol producer, holds a 50% stake in Syclus and is positioned to provide regional feedstock. Syclus focuses on enabling defossilisation of ethylene value chains in Northwest Europe by substituting fossil naphtha-derived ethylene with a renewable, specification-compliant alternative.
