About Südzucker Group

Südzucker AG (Südzucker Group) is a Germany-based, publicly listed agrifood and ingredients company headquartered in Mannheim. The group is one of Europe’s largest sugar producers and operates across four main segments: Sugar; Special Products (including BENEO functional ingredients); Bioethanol via its subsidiary CropEnergies; and Fruit (fruit preparations and juice concentrates, largely via holdings in AGRANA). Its operations span numerous production sites across Europe and selected international markets.

For the chemical and industrial value chain, Südzucker’s CropEnergies segment supplies renewable ethanol for fuel blending and a wide range of industrial and chemical applications, alongside co-products such as biogenic CO₂, power, and protein animal feed. The BENEO business produces bio-based functional ingredients—including chicory root fibers (inulin, oligofructose), isomalt, rice derivatives, and wheat-based ingredients—that serve food, feed, and certain technical uses. The Sugar segment processes sugar beet into refined sugar and by-products like molasses and betaine, which are important inputs for fermentation and other downstream processes. The group emphasizes efficient, integrated processing of agricultural raw materials and supports decarbonization through bio-based products and circular resource use.
