Stepan Company is a U.S.-based manufacturer of specialty and intermediate chemicals serving consumer and industrial markets worldwide. Founded in 1932 and headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, the company’s portfolio spans surfactants, polymers, and specialty products. Its surfactants include anionic, nonionic, cationic, and amphoteric chemistries used in detergents and cleaners, personal care, agriculture, oilfield, and industrial applications. The polymer portfolio includes polyester polyols used in rigid foam insulation and CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) applications, as well as phthalic anhydride. Specialty products include tailored chemical ingredients for food, flavor, and pharmaceutical uses.

Stepan operates research, manufacturing, and technical service facilities across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, supplying materials to end markets such as home and personal care, construction, transportation, energy, and agriculture.
