SMBC Aviation Capital Limited is a Dublin, Ireland–based commercial aircraft leasing company. It is owned by Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company, Limited (SMFL), part of the SMBC Group. The company originated from the former RBS Aviation Capital and adopted its current name following its acquisition by SMFL-affiliated shareholders.
SMBC Aviation Capital acquires, leases, and trades commercial jet aircraft to airlines worldwide. Its activities include operating leases, sale-and-leaseback transactions, portfolio and asset management, aircraft trading, and financing solutions. The portfolio is focused on in-demand narrowbody and selected widebody aircraft families from major manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing. The company also manages aircraft on behalf of third-party owners, overseeing lease transitions, maintenance and technical management, and remarketing throughout the asset lifecycle.
