About SAFA

The South African Football Association (SAFA) is the national governing body for association football in South Africa. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Johannesburg, it regulates, administers, and develops the sport nationwide. SAFA is a member of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), representing South Africa in international football governance.

SAFA oversees the men’s and women’s senior national teams, youth teams, futsal, and beach soccer. Its remit includes talent development, grassroots participation, coaching education, refereeing, and compliance with international standards. The association sanctions competitions in coordination with regional structures and works with commercial partners and broadcasters to support its programs.
