Rompetrol Quality Control SRL (RQC) is the dedicated laboratory division of the KMG International Group, operating under the Rompetrol brand in Romania. Founded in 2004 through the gradual externalization of refinery laboratories at Petromidia (Năvodari) and Vega (Ploiești), followed by integration of the petrochemical laboratory, it provides comprehensive industrial testing and analytical services.
The company specializes in quality control and testing for petroleum products (liquids, solids, gases, biofuels including biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel blends), petrochemicals (polymers with food-contact compliance), environmental factors (water, air, soil, waste, emissions via mobile lab), bitumen, n-hexane (polymerization and food-grade), and occupational health parameters. It operates multiple RENAR-accredited laboratories (SR EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018) with 137 accredited services across sites in Năvodari and Ploiești, plus 24/7 operations and nationwide logistics.
RQC holds unique positions in Romania as the only entity accredited by RENAR for full gasoline/diesel testing (including jet fuel with SAF) and RAR-certified for biodiesel; it runs the country’s sole specialized polymer testing laboratory and Vega’s complete n-hexane/bitumen capabilities. It was the first in Romania to implement a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and maintains integrated ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. Serving the group’s refineries and petrochemical division as well as over 350 external private and public clients, its tests enjoy international recognition via ILAC-MRA. The company employs around 200 staff and supports compliance, product quality, and third-party commercial needs in the energy and petrochemical sectors.
