Région Sud (also known as Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, PACA) is the regional public authority for southeastern France. Based in Marseille, it oversees regional planning and funding across economic development, transport, vocational training, environmental policy, and innovation.
The region includes the Marseille–Fos port and the Étang de Berre–Fos industrial basin, one of Europe’s notable refining, petrochemical, and logistics hubs. Région Sud acts as a coordinator and funder for initiatives that enhance industrial competitiveness and decarbonization, with priorities spanning renewable energy, hydrogen, sustainable fuels, circular economy solutions, and industrial symbiosis. Working with municipalities, industry, research organizations, and infrastructure operators, it advances energy transition, reindustrialization, and workforce development relevant to the chemical and process industries.

The project aims to produce 75,000 tons of e-SAF annually by 2030, using green hydrogen and CO2, supporting Europe's decarbonization goals and sustainable aviation.
