REDcert GmbH is a Germany-based scheme owner that develops and operates voluntary sustainability certification systems for biomass, biofuels, biogas/biomethane, and the material use of renewable and circular feedstocks. Its programs include REDcert-EU (EU-wide) and REDcert-DE (Germany) for verifying compliance with the sustainability and greenhouse gas saving criteria of the EU Renewable Energy Directive and national regulations, and REDcert² for applications in the chemical and plastics value chains.
REDcert defines standards for traceability, mass balance, and greenhouse gas calculation; approves and oversees independent certification bodies; and maintains chain-of-custody rules spanning from agricultural producers and waste/residue collectors to processors, distributors, and downstream users. Its certifications provide audited documentation for sustainable sourcing and the attributed use of renewable or recycled raw materials in industrial processes.
