RecyClass

RecyClass is a European, cross‑industry initiative and certification program, driven by Plastics Recyclers Europe, focused on improving the circularity of plastics packaging. It assesses the recyclability of packaging components and technologies and supports credible use of recycled plastics across the value chain.

The organization develops science‑based Design for Recycling Guidelines and Recyclability Evaluation Protocols for major polymers and formats, including PE films, HDPE and PET bottles, PP, and others. Through accredited laboratory testing and independent expert review, RecyClass issues Technology Approvals and RecyClass Recyclability Certifications, and operates certification schemes for recycled plastics and recycled content traceability. Its guidance and labels are used by resin producers, converters, adhesive and label suppliers, and brand owners to validate compatibility with established recycling streams and to substantiate sustainability claims. By harmonizing criteria and methodologies, RecyClass helps align packaging design with existing recycling infrastructure and supports the development of a more circular plastics economy in Europe.
