ProTerra Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization that manages the ProTerra Standard, a certification scheme for sustainably produced, non-GMO agricultural commodities and their supply chains. The standard sets requirements for environmental protection (including deforestation-free production and biodiversity conservation), social responsibility and labor practices, business integrity, and rigorous traceability and segregation from farm to finished ingredient. It applies to a range of plant-based feedstocks such as soy, sugarcane, and other crops.
For the chemical and materials sectors, ProTerra certification helps verify responsible sourcing of bio-based raw materials used in specialties, personal care ingredients, solvents, surfactants, and polymers. The foundation provides chain-of-custody certification, supplier assessments, and guidance to support companies’ sustainability commitments and compliance needs, enabling credible claims on sustainable, non-GMO, and ethically produced inputs.
