About Phelan eFuels

Phelan eFuels Saldanha (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Phelan Green Group, is developing an electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) facility in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. The project forms part of the R47 billion (≈US$2.5 billion) Phelan Green Hydrogen Project, recognized by the South African government as a nationally strategic green industrial development.

The facility will employ Honeywell UOP's Fischer Tropsch Unicracking™ technology to convert liquids and waxes—derived from captured CO2 and green hydrogen—into aviation-grade eSAF. It targets production of over 140,000 tonnes annually for export to EU and UK markets. The broader initiative includes green hydrogen (80,000 tonnes/year) and e-methanol (400,000 tonnes/year) output.

Construction is scheduled to begin in Q4 2026, with the project expected to create thousands of construction jobs and over 250 permanent positions, supporting South Africa's role as an export hub for advanced fuels. Phelan Green Group, founded in 2005, specializes in renewables including solar PV, wind, battery storage, and eFuels.
