PETRONAS Petróleo Brasil Ltda is a Brazilian subsidiary of Malaysia's Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), incorporated in June 2018 and headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It operates in the upstream oil and gas sector, focusing on exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, primarily offshore in prolific basins such as the Campos Basin.
The company has participated in Brazil's bid rounds, securing interests in exploration blocks including CM 661, CM 715 (as 100% operator), and CM 541 (20% stake with partners Total and Qatar Petroleum). It previously held a 50% non-operated stake in the producing Tartaruga Verde field (BM-C-36 concession) and Espadarte Module III, located in deepwater areas at depths of 700-1,620 meters and tied to the FPSO Cidade de Campos dos Goytacazes. These assets, with production around 55,000 barrels of oil per day, were acquired from Petrobras in 2019 before recent divestment.
PETRONAS Petróleo Brasil supports PETRONAS's strategy to expand its global portfolio in high-potential regions like Brazil.
