Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is an Indian central public sector undertaking headquartered in New Delhi. It is the country's largest oil and gas explorer and producer, accounting for around 70% of domestic crude oil and 84% of natural gas output. Founded in 1956 and majority-owned by the Government of India (approximately 59%), the company operates across 26 sedimentary basins with extensive pipeline infrastructure and drilling capabilities. It maintains a Maharatna status and conducts international projects through its subsidiary ONGC Videsh. ONGC is also expanding into petrochemicals, including oil-to-chemicals initiatives.
