The company engineers and produces high-performance battery cells and modules primarily using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS). Its state-of-the-art 4.23 million square-foot plant has an annual capacity of up to 49.5 gigawatt-hours and includes full vertical integration capabilities from electrode manufacturing to cell formation, module assembly, and battery pack production.

Established in 2022 as a joint venture between LG Energy Solution Ltd. and Stellantis, NextStar Energy transitioned to full ownership by LG Energy Solution in February 2026. The facility began module production in 2024 and full cell production in November 2025, achieving over one million cells produced by early 2026. It currently employs more than 1,300 people with a target of 2,500 at full operation.

Positioned as a cornerstone of North America’s battery supply chain, NextStar Energy supports the electrification of transportation and the expansion of grid-scale energy storage, leveraging LG Energy Solution’s global technological leadership while creating high-skilled jobs in Canada’s emerging clean energy sector.
