MTC Orec Sdn Bhd (MTCO), a 100% Malaysian-owned engineering company based in Cyberjaya, Selangor, specializes in bioenergy solutions. The firm designs, builds, owns, and operates biogas upgrading plants, with a focus on producing biomethane (CBG) from feedstocks such as palm oil mill effluent (POME), municipal solid waste, and agricultural waste.
Key achievements include commissioning Malaysia's first two direct-injection biomethane generation plants at Bukit Bandi and Sedenak Palm Oil Mills in Johor, and ongoing projects at Sindora Palm Oil Mill. These facilities generate power for the grid, supply gas, and avoid significant CO2 emissions—e.g., 125,000 mt CO2e annually at Sedenak—while creating local jobs.
Co-owned by government-backed VentureTECH, MTCO has formed strategic partnerships, including with Evonik for SEPURAN® Green membrane technology, Japan's IHI Plant Services for biomethane from palm waste, and others to expand across Southeast Asia.
